Tekken 8 Patch 2.06 — Armor King Release

TL;DR

Ver.2.06.01 went live on October 13, 2025 (PDT) / October 14, 2025 (CEST). Headliners: Armor King DLC, the Round 7 Fight Pass, and two new cosmetic packs (Nightmare Jester and Whimsical Jester). On the balance side, this was an intentionally minimal patch — adjustments were limited to hitbox/collision fixes and audio/VFX quality passes, with one player-friendly change: King and Lee got their pre-2.00 command inputs restored as alternate inputs (Bandai Namco patch notes, Gamerant).

A follow-up hotfix Ver.2.06.02 shipped October 28, 2025 (r/Tekken thread). Bandai also noted in 2.06.02’s notes that Ver.2.07 would be skipped.

Balance changes — what’s actually in the patch

Direct quote from the official notes (source):

In V2.06, adjustments have been made primarily to hitboxes and collision detection to address unintended behaviors. Improvements have been made to sound effects, voiceovers, and visual effects to enhance overall quality.

Then this player-facing convenience:

Some moves that had their command inputs changed in Version 2.00 can now also be executed using their old command inputs. This change applies only to King and Lee, as no moves were assigned to those old inputs for them.

This is the entire “balance” section of 2.06.01. There are no frame-data buffs or nerfs in this patch — the changes are bugfix-tier. Players seeking meaningful balance shifts had to wait for 2.06.02 (Oct 28) and ultimately for the Ver.3.00 Season 3 patch in March 2026.

Why this patch is so light

Two contextual reasons, both stated by Bandai in earlier 2025 patch notes:

  1. August tournament window. Per the Ver.2.04 notes: “This update (Ver.2.04) does not include any battle balance adjustments, taking into consideration the multiple major esports tournaments scheduled for August. Starting with Ver.2.05, planned for release in September, future updates will primarily focus on bug fixes and related improvements.” That bug-fix focus carried through 2.05 and 2.06.
  2. Season 3 was the planned reset point. Major balance changes were being held for Ver.3.00 in March 2026 — see Patch 3.00.
