Armor King — Matchups
Toughest
- Lili — Lili's backdash and sway evade Armor King's tracking grabs the same way they evade King's. Worse here because Armor King has fewer ranged tools than King. Frustrating range war.
- Bryan — Bryan's `b+1` outranges Armor King's `df+1` and his `ff+2` whiff-punishes the lumbering ff+ approach. Eat the matchup; close range only on hard reads.
- Dragunov — Drag's `df+2` punishes Armor King's slow startup and his short hitbox lets him sneak under high-heavy commit strings. Block more, grab on read only.
- Steve — Steve sways under Armor King's high strings and `b+1` whiff-punishes every grab attempt. Steve's no-low problem doesn't matter here — Armor King has no anti-sway tools.
- Reina — Sentai launcher catches Armor King's grab whiff and EWGF beats his commit startup. Slow grappler vs fast Mishima — rough.
Easiest
- Asuka — Asuka has no anti-throw tech that beats Armor King's chain command grabs. Free `f,n,d,df+1+2` damage every round.
- Jin — Jin's defensive options lose to Armor King's tracking grab. `ub+1` Heat engager catches Jin's sidestep attempts.
- Kuma — Big hitbox + slow defense = free Armor King grab game. Chain grab loops carry to wall easily.
- Alisa — Alisa has no throw tech mid-pressure. Armor King's `ub+1+2*` unblockable chain grab ends rounds.
- Panda — Same as Kuma. Grab-heavy matchup, low effort.
Sidestep: Armor King sidesteps RIGHT vs most chars (tracking grab favors RIGHT side angle). Vs Bryan, step LEFT to dodge his `b+1`. Don't sidestep at neutral against opponents with tracking throws (Drag, Nina) — they'll homing-grab through.
